The lines are busy at the telephone helpline. A life coach records an encouraging video while concerned parents consult a child psychologist. A spectrum of cinematic tableaus shows people trying to counteract the increasing loneliness and create closeness.
A series of painterly vignettes depict various psychologists as they are soothing the callers on the other side of the red line. These people are desperately seeking a solution, but how much does a calming voice really help? There is an underlying message about the need to reconnect in directors’ Kezia Zurbrügg and Philipp Ritler film, but their characters search for connection remains a virtual one – one of the paradoxes of modern technology as a panacea for day-by-day tragedies.
