A self-reflective visual essay, “The Capacity For Adequate Anger” seeks to explore subjectivity as a nonviolent manifestation, a subjectivity whose anger is suppressed by social oppressing forces.
The association between voice-over and visual collage (mostly composed of childhood drawings, family portraits and anime scenes) manages, in “The Capacity For Adequate Anger”, an ambiguous access to a selection of memories that reflect the suppression of queer subjectivity and art queer. The selective flow of memories describes the constant feeling of alienation, through a persistent sense of non-belonging, pointing in particular to the difficulty of social and artistic integration in the hetero-dominant creative industry. One could invite anger in the performance of such self-identity as a manifestation of frustration, but prefers to hinder such instincts. (Emilian Lungu)
