The deadly accident caused by a software-driven car brings to light the vulnerability of even an AI to fault. VO proposes an issue of ethics regarding the instrumentalization of AI: is the agency of a computer reliable, or must it be fully regulated?
VO proposes a current discussion regarding posthuman existence: how much freedom can you concede to non-human agency and where do you draw the line? Did the accident caused by the software driving the vehicle in “VO ” make a mistake or was it a deliberate transgression of the AI? Or was the human driver guilty? But above all, does AI have the ability to take on human tasks and is it ethical to subjugate its work? The ethical questioning behind the accident unfolds juxtaposed with an almost soothing mapping of a city built sensorially by the software’s vectors. (Emilian Lungu)
