A hybrid between video poem and 3D simulation animates ghostly thoughts, unfamiliar movements and unlimited auras of objects to create a kind of fun dedicated to the empty seats in the deserted theaters of the pandemic era.
A 3D simulation with chairs which are running on a field left without spectators embraces the lettrism of Al-Qaisi’s poem. The result is a virtual reality that is fragmented by the thoughts and fears of objects in regards to the closure of cinemas and theaters during the pandemic. In an alternative, post-apocalyptic imaginary, as no longer able to fulfill the basic functions for which they were designed, the now-free chairs fall into an existentialist meditation that is full of contradictions. And, like people, they are left with their thoughts in desperate search of a purpose. (Daria Barbu)
